What is AAUW? Since 1881 The American Association of University Women has been the nation’s leading voice promoting education and equality for women and girls. The Association has over a 100,000 members, 1,300 branches and 55 colleges/university institution partners nationwide. We are advocates for women’s educational, social, economic and political advancement. The AAUW Education Foundation has a long and distinguished history of advancing education for women in the United States and around the world. One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, The Education Foundation is providing $4.5 million in funding for more than 250 fellows, grants, and special awards to outstanding women in 2008-2009. The Northwest Valley Branch of AAUW has over 200 members from Sun City West, Sun City Grand, Corte Bella, Surprise, Peoria, Glendale, Phoenix, Tempe, and Queen Creek.
