NAME YOUR GAME DAY UPDATE
The Name Your Game Day committee (shown below) is busy developing the plans for our new Educational Foundation fund raiser which will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010, at Anacapa Restaurant in Corte Bella.
This event will include a basket raffle, a silent auction, lunch, and a time to play a card or board game. Print Name Your Game Day registration form
Silent Auction and Raffle BasketsGenerous donors are contributing a wide variety of items for the Name Your Game Day silent auction/raffle baskets. These unique baskets include handmade ceramics, quilts, and sweaters, theater tickets, jewelry, entertaining must-haves, and many more things you will want for yourself or to give as gifts. One of many contributors, Patty Kealoha is preparing a new basket which will be filled with healthy food and wellness resources. After Patty recently met in Scottsdale with Dr. Michael Jacobson and his assistant Kelli Burke-Knox from Washington, D.C., they generously contributed a year’s subscription to Nutrition Action Healthletter to the lucky person who wins Patty’s health and wellness basket.
Left to right: Kelli Burke-Knox, Dr. Michael Jacobson, Wanda Sidlaukas, and Patty Kealoha Since it was founded by Dr. Michael Jacobson and two other scientists in 1971, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has embraced its role as the organized voice of the American public on nutrition, food safety and other health issues. Along with its advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, CSPI provides consumers with current, useful information about their health and well-being by publishing the Nutrition Action Healthletter (NAH), publishing reports, and speaking out in the media. Nutrition Action, which is the world’s largest-circulation health newsletter with 800,000 subscribers, provides readers (and journalists) with objective health information, including tips on how to reduce calories, saturated fat, and sodium from the diet and which packaged foods are the most healthful – all measures that help improve the health of readers and their families.
Members who call on businesses for donations for the silent auction/raffle baskets, are reminded to give them both (1) the letter which explains how their donation will be used and (2) the donation description form. Print the donor letter Print the donation description form

Have you made your $5 or more contribution for this event? We need this money to buy items to fill the baskets for the Basket Raffle. Rosalie Chapman continues to collect the money at each General Meeting, or you can mail your check to her at 18123 N. Peppermill Lane, Surprise, AZ 85374. This money will be used for our Education Foundation and is tax deductable. Also you or a group can donate a basket. We hope you have your reservations for Name Your Game. Don’t forget to invite your friends and family, and members of clubs/groups (outside of AAUW) such as bridge, mah jongg, bunco, cribbage, pinochle, euchre, or other card/board games. Please see the articles in the December Currents on pages 5 and 6. Harriett Grau |
