It’s been a very good year for the AAUW Mission… In the past months many AAUW issues concerning women have been passed into law. Bonnie Boyce Wilson has kept us well informed on the Lilly Ledbetter Bill and the fight for equal pay. On March 11th President Obama signed an executive order creating a White House Council on Women and Girls. This council will be able to further the AAUW Mission.
It’s been a very good year for our Branch…. Not only have our mentors in The Next Step produced an award winning program, but we have also contributed $5,000 to local scholarships. (See Doris Flax’s comments.) Our contributions to EF/LAF certainly help to advance our Mission. The fundraisers that led to this significant contribution were fun and I truly believe are “the glue that holds us together.” The fundraisers provide a great means for working together and learning about each other.
On a personal level for me it has been a very good year… I appreciate the opportunity I have had to meet each of you. Together we have reached into our community. Thank you for the privilege of leadership in the NW Valley Branch! I look forward to seeing you in September. Have a wonderful summer!
